Committees

COMMITTEES of KAHHCC 

For Committee descriptions see Article VI of the By-Laws.

Assignment of Board members is valid till after November 2026  general meeting. 

      1. Budget and Finance and Fundraising Committee 

Monitors and implements all financial activities and ensures that Hui finances comply with the laws and the KAHHCC governing documents.  

The Treasurer is usually assigned as the Board Advisor to this committee.  

A budget is proposed each year in January if not before based on the previous budget and the financial results for the previous year.  

Fund raising is a major responsibility of the committee. 

      2. Education, Wellness and Health Committee 

Provides opportunities for learning of Hawaiians, Health, and other matters. 

Classes, speakers, demonstrations, health information, etc. are offered to the Hui 

      3. Hospitality and Program Committee 

Plans and organizes events, communications, recognitions, and community involvements. 

Monthly general meeting planning to include business, pot luck, kanikapila, crafts, etc as well as setting up and taking down are major responsibilities. 

Community events by the Hui, service, annual picnic meetings, etc. are planned by the committee.  

      4. Membership Committee 

Recruits potential members and retains current members 

Membership is an important part of Hui continuity and so the more members the better for both the Hui and our scholarship program. 

Maintaining a current membership roster is also an important responsibility. 

Consider all means to encourage membership. 

      5. Na Mea Hawaii (Nahona) and Historical Sites/Na Mele 

Seeks continuity in all things Hawaiian. 

This is our cultural committee and assists the Hui in educating members and others in Hawaiian culture via crafts, classes, activities, etc. 

Iosepa is an event supported by the Hui and assisted as can. 

Na Mele Ukulele is a Hui group which comes under the Nahona umbrella 

The hula groups associated with our members also are included. 

Music groups such as kanikapila and members are included too. 

      6. Scholarship Committee 

Works to provide monetary awards to qualified students. 

Prepares application forms, notifies students, recommends awards, and seeks donations  

Arranges for presentations by receipients 

      7. Governance Committee 

Observes the proceedings  of Hui activities and whether the documents by which the Hui operates meet the goals and objectives of KAHHCC.  

Prepares and maintains a Standard Operations Procedures manual and recommends updates to all Hui documents. 

Insures all reports, fees, taxes, etc are paid and completed  

Recommends audits as necessary. 

Insures all laws, rules, requirements, etc. for non profit organizations are adhered to. 

      8. Communications Committee 

Keeps members informed of meetings, activities, correspondence, etc. as directed by the Pelekikena. 

Maintains the Hui website and other social media sites. 

Sends and receives all Hui correspondence.  

Assists in marketing for the Hui’s activities
